Who We Are

Allay Counseling Services

Allay Counseling Services cares about your healing and meeting with you in the hardness of life. We are here to meet you through our Christian faith with love, compassion, empathy, truth, hope, and, most importantly, without judgment. Our approach to therapy is grounded in the principles of psychology and our belief in Jesus Christ while offering trauma-informed care.

Our goal is to provide "allay," which means to diminish, relieve, and alleviate those pains, anxieties, depression, grief, and trauma.

About Me.

My name is Lisa Peredia and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and started Allay Counseling Services in 2023. Before starting Allay Counseling Services, I have and continue to work for a Christian university as the Assistant Director of the Counseling Center. Previously, I worked at county schools as a clinical therapist and serving the last 4 years as the Clinical Compliance Supervisor. I have experience working with youth, adolescents, and young adults, including individuals, couples, and families. I have also worked in alternative education, special education, incarcerated settings, and university counseling services, with clinical experience in treating underserved populations, trauma, attachment trauma, crisis response, depression, anxiety, and more.

My clinical training has led me to approach therapy through the deeper wounds that may still impact us today. This can include themes, patterns, or internalized mechanisms that continue to impact us. I utilize what I call "the bridge" approach, which includes building internal and external regulation skills while bridging the intellectual awareness and somatic process from our body and neurological system. To meet more profound and complete healing, we must approach both simultaneously.

I am also a Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ. That does not mean you need to be as well. However, my faith influences my clinical practice through wanting to offer safety, non-judgment, love, hope, truth, and grace to the best of my ability. I am open to exploring spiritual health and strive never to preach but to offer space to explore and understand one's spiritual well-being and wounds related to our experiential and potentially church-related wounds. I also believe the Holy Spirit guides me in our sessions, and I am willing to pray for any client while meeting the client exactly where they are.

I hope to work with adolescents and adults from all age ranges who are struggling with trauma, relational distress, anxiety, depression, and for any of those who are interested in Christian-based therapy (this is an opportunity but not required for every client). I want to offer as much grace, love, safety, truth, and the ability to share the sacred space with my clients in their most vulnerable wounds to promote lasting healing. I find that sacred space to be of great humility and honor for me to walk alongside each client. Every session and the overall treatment is catered to my client's needs while offering them truth in love and grace to help them find healing.
